DC Highlights

Happy to be home in Raleigh but I wanted to give a few highlights of the work we’ve been doing in DC:  ✅Passed #VAWA, which included 2 of my amendments✅Passed H.R. 6, the American Dream and Promise Act✅Passed 2 commonsense gun violence prevention bills, H.R. 8, & H.R. 1446.

American Rescue Plan

With the delivery of the life-saving resources of the #AmericanRescuePlan and with President Joe Biden‘s new announcement — including making all adults eligible for the vaccine by May 1 and taking further action to safely re-open schools, we can now say: Help Is Here!

Accelerated Vaccine Schedule

Today Governor Roy Cooper announced an accelerated vaccine schedule. Starting March 31st, Group 4b, people who are classified as essential workers will become eligible. Equal Pay Day

Equal Pay Day is when all women on average catch up to men’s earnings from 2020. We must work together to ensure that we are working to close the gap and make #EqualPayDay obsolete.

I’m heartbroken about the 10 people killed in yesterday’s mass shooting in Boulder. Sending my love and strength to honor the lives of the victims, including a Boulder police officer. Praying for their families and the entire community.  Words cannot bring back loved ones. We must take action to combat gun violence.

Dream Act

Yesterday, the House passed the bipartisan Dream Act! Dreamers, TPS and DED holders are essential workers, teachers, and medical personnel. This bill will allow them to gain permanent legal status so that they can continue to contribute to the country they call home. #HomeIsHere
