National Science Foundation (NSF) for the Future Act

Great news—my bipartisan legislation to establish and fund technology research at institutions of higher education passed the House last night as part of the National Science Foundation (NSF) for the Future Act.

I am especially excited to be leading this piece of legislation as the representative of much of the Research Triangle area, home to several major research universities.

Documented Dreamers

Documented Dreamers grow up in the United States and are American in every way except on paper. I’m honored to lead a letter in Congress to protect Documented Dreamers from aging out and becoming vulnerable to deportation. We must ensure that these talented young people and their families are treated with dignity and respect.

I’m also working on a bill to address this issue.

NC State Baseball Team

Good luck to the NC State baseball team as they take on Vanderbilt this afternoon. The Wolfpack is one win away from reaching the College World Series championship series. Go Pack!

Fort Bragg Bill

Great news — the House and Senate passed my bipartisan Fort Bragg bill. Consolidating Fort Bragg into one judicial district is commonsense for North Carolinians. This legislation will ease the burden of traveling miles to Durham, Greensboro, or Winston-Salem to resolve court matters and instead have the opportunity to be resolved nearby.

This will benefit our servicemembers and their families.

Election Reform

H.R.1 is a transformative package to make elections fairer and voting more convenient and accessible. Election reform isn’t about political parties, it’s about voters and ensuring their voices are heard.

That’s why I voted for HR1. It’s time for the Senate to do the same #ForThePeople.

Child Tax Credit

Families, mark July 15 on your calendar. You will receive monthly payments (via direct deposit or mail) up to $250/child between the ages of 6-17 or up to $300/child under the age of 6. Find out more at childtaxcredit.gov.

Thanks to the expanded & improved #ChildTaxCredit,13,700 children in NC-02 will be lifted out of poverty.

Happy Father’s Day!

Wishing a Happy Father’s Day to all fathers, uncles, grandfathers and father figures. I’m especially thankful for my dad. He always treated me with honesty and respect. Key life lessons.

Today we honor and observe Juneteenth, the oldest continuous celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

Juneteenth is a day of reflection and rejoicing. In the North Carolina State Legislature, I celebrated Juneteenth with my friend, Rep. Larry Womble, who passed away last year. Larry spent his life advocating for racial justice and education equality in North Carolina, and our community misses him dearly.

I hope to carry on Larry’s legacy and continue building on our work together in Congress. I will continue to fight for justice and the rights of all people.
