A spotlight on the iconic Raleigh restaurant, The Players’ Retreat owned by my friend Gus Gussler. Like many businesses, the restaurant has plans to safely reopen this spring after being closed a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I can’t wait to have their fries again soon!
The House passed the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, and I proudly voted for it. This is an important step in boosting law enforcement accountability and transparency, changing police practices and curbing racial profiling. It’s on all of us to help create a society that recognizes injustice and repairs it with humanity.
Starting today, all NC frontline workers are eligible to get vaccinated. Additionally, starting in three weeks people with underlying health conditions will be eligible to get vaccinated. I am thankful to all those working hard to get North Carolinians vaccinated as quickly as possible.
The “For the People Act” is a comprehensive package of reforms that would strengthen voting rights, protect our democracy, and give the people a bigger voice in their government. Congress has a chance right now to pass once-in-a-lifetime reforms that would safeguard our democracy by ending partisan gerrymandering, broadening access to voting, getting big money out of politics, and placing restrictions on future voter suppression efforts. I am proud to co-sponsor this bold legislation that truly represents the people.
March is Women’s History Month, a time to reflect on the vital role of women in American history and recommit to our fight for equality. It’s absolutely necessary for a democracy to represent all voices,
I enjoyed serving with Bobbie in the NC House and I know that she has the energy, skills, and experience to lead our party forward.

Remember the 3 W’s: Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Watch your distance. We will all get through this as long as we care for each other.
The bill amends federal civil rights laws to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, education, housing, credit, jury service, public accommodations, and federal funding. I’m proud to be a cosponsor of the bill and support the rights of the LGBTQ community nationwide.
