March is Women’s History Month, a time to reflect on the vital role of women in American history and recommit to our fight for equality.
It’s a time to celebrate that more women and women of color are serving in Congress than ever before, but also to remember how much work we have left to do. Women make up just 27 percent of Congress, and women of color comprise less than 10 percent.
We must elect more leaders who reflect the true makeup of our country, especially women of color. It’s absolutely necessary for a democracy to represent all voices, to give everyone a seat at the table, and bring together a multitude of perspectives to address our nation’s biggest issues.
