So meaningful to be in Garner celebrating Juneteenth over the weekend. It was a powerful reminder that making our voices heard is more important than ever. Make sure you and everyone you know are registered to vote this year.
This is why Juneteenth is so important. Freedom must endure. “Weeks after the Civil War’s guns fell silent and barely two months after President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas. They had come to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation, an order freeing enslaved people in seceded Confederate states.
Honored to celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with so many friends last night, recognizing the resilience, achievements, and incredible impact of the AANHPI community.
Today, we remember the brave Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage will never be forgotten, and their legacy lives on in the nation they served and helped protect.
