Yesterday, I introduced the Fair Courts Act to restore justice and impartiality to our courts.
This bill does two very important things:
1. It limits anyone pursuing legal action from picking the judge that hears their case in hopes of swaying the outcome in their favor.
2. It requires that any case that would have a national impact have a panel of judges preside over the case, not just one, so all sides are taken into account.
Right now, our country’s still reeling from the most recent judge shopping case – a single partisan judge and his dangerous, reckless, and unprecedented #Mifepristone ruling in Texas.
No one judge should have the right to dictate women’s health care, but he did. It must stop.
