Cheri Beasley ran an incredible campaign focused on results, equality, and progress. The road does not stop here. I know she will never stop fighting for North Carolina. We need leaders like Cheri Beasley who will stand up for what is right.
While this is not the result we hoped for, I would like to congratulate Congressman Ted Budd on his election to serve as North Carolina’s next Senator. I hope he will put the interests of North Carolinians first and work to move our state and country forward.
I am excited to congratulate many of my new colleagues who I know will fight for a better & brighter future for all North Carolinians, including Don Davis, Valerie Foushee, Jeff Jackson, and Wiley Nickel. I look forward to working together for NC.
Last night made one thing abundantly clear: we cannot give up. Thanks to NC voters, we prevented Republicans from gaining a supermajority in the legislature. And across the country, Democrats are defying expectations.
Hope is a big part of what defines us as Democrats. And we’re willing to put in the hard work to make our dreams for the future a reality. Let’s keep hoping and believing and fighting.
