It’s been a chaotic week in Washington and at home in North Carolina.
Congress has been paralyzed without a Speaker of the House for over two weeks. Instead of working with Democrats on a bipartisan solution, Republicans continue to be mired in an internal civil war. They’ve now failed to elect election denier and anti-abortion zealot Jim Jordan as Speaker for the third time.
At home, with the release of new Congressional and state legislative maps, Republicans in the North Carolina General Assembly have proven that their primary allegiance is to their own political self-interest—not to our democracy and certainly not to upholding the will of the voters.
We have a choice in 2024: extremism or results. While the task ahead may seem daunting, we are a strong and resilient people, and we can solve big problems.
That’s why I’m running for re-election and why I’m committed to building a grassroots turnout operation in Wake County that will lift up Democrats up and down the ticket.
