The events that have unfolded over the last week in Ukraine have been absolutely heart wrenching. The international community must not let Putin’s force and aggression go unchecked. President Biden has made our nation’s stance crystal clear: when you attack our allies, you will face grave consequences. I support the Biden administration’s efforts to issue sweeping financial sanctions and export controls that will cripple Russia’s financial institutions and their economy. We have also sent military assistance and troops to our NATO allies. Our commitment to Ukraine and its people is clear, but we aren’t out of the dark yet. Putin has chosen to attack the innocent people of Ukraine, and the lives lost rest solely on his shoulders. My heart is with the Ukrainian people, and I stand with them fully. In Congress, I’ll remain focused on how we can continue to provide the people of Ukraine our strongest support.
