Trump’s Big Ugly Law has now taken food assistance away from 4 million people across the country, including 1.5 million children, all so the wealthy and well-connected can receive billions in tax handouts.
“More than 4 million people nationwide were dropped from the federal food assistance program known as SNAP from July 2025 through March, according to an analysis from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP), a nonpartisan think tank.
Across 17 states that have publicly available data or shared unpublished data with the CBPP, the number of children who lost their SNAP benefits dropped by about 1 million, according to the study. In its report, published earlier this month, the CBPP estimated that nationwide, the number of children who have been dropped from the program probably exceeds 1.5 million.”
