As declared this afternoon, Wake County’s stay-at-home order will go into effect at 5pm on Friday and will last until April 17th. So what does this mean? It means we as a community will join together in staying home, only venturing out for essential needs such as grocery shopping, seeking medical attention if necessary, and caring for dependent family members. All large gatherings beyond your immediate household members are not permitted. However, greenways and parks will remain open, as we should all spend some time outside to exercise and help our mental health – just practice proper social distancing!
This announcement is not to cause panic – this is not an excuse to run to the grocery store and unnecessarily stock up. This is a time for us as a county to come together and do our part in flattening the curve of the coronavirus – to not overwhelm our health care system by mitigating the risk of infection as much as possible. This is our opportunity to help ourselves and our neighbors, our family and friends, our community, our state, and our country. Stay well, stay healthy, and stay home!
