August is National Immunization Month, and safe and accessible vaccines are more important than ever. As a member of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, I have made supporting safe, effective vaccines a top priority. In the face of Republicans’ baseless arguments against these life-saving scientific advancements, I have been a consistent and strong advocate for vaccines and the researchers who develop them. My GOP colleagues’ suggestion that public health officials violated the Constitution is dangerous, misleading, and undermines confidence in our public health professionals. VA Education Benefits Program

Our service members deserve access to the best resources, but far too often, unnecessary red tape gets in the way of what they need, from education to health care. I’m proud to announce that two amendments I’ve been working on have passed in the House. The first designates crucial funding to the VA Education Benefits Program and will help veterans who want to pursue STEM degrees get the education they deserve. On the anniversary of this monumental piece of legislation, we celebrate the fights that have been won, but acknowledge the work ahead. The right to vote is a cornerstone of our democracy. We must restore the fundamental guarantees of the Voting Rights Act and stop discriminatory voting practices, like racial gerrymandering and restrictive voter ID laws.
